Prescription validity according to Provinces regulations
Each province in Canada has its own regulations regarding eyeglasses prescription requirements.
The duration of validity and the required information on the document may vary.
It is important to provide us with your full prescription document.
1. Quebec:
Prescription valid for 2 years after the examination.
Requires: name and address of the clinic, signature or number of the optometrist, name of the patient, complete prescription.
2. Ontario:
Prescription valid for 2 years after the examination or according to the expiration date indicated.
Requires: name of the optometrist, complete prescription, date of the examination.
3. Alberta and Manitoba:
Prescription valid for 2 years after the examination.
Requires: name of the optometrist, complete prescription, date of the examination.
4. British Columbia and rest of Canada :
Prescription valid for 2 years after the examination.
Requires: name and address of the clinic, name and signature of the optometrist, complete prescription, date of the examination.
5. USA:
Orders placed in the USA are not subject to Canadian regulations, so all prescriptions are allowed without any specific requirements.
